Coffee with the Candidates Coffee

The Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods hosted “Coffee with the Candidates” on October 30, 2021 to give the South Jackson community the opportunity to mix, mingle and ask questions of candidates vying for Hinds County Sheriff.  For nearly two hours candidates fielded questions posed by Mississippi Women for Progress and the audience.  In attendance were the following candidates: Beverly Harris-Williams, Les Tannehill, Marshand Crisler, Reginald Thompson, Bernard Caston, Colundela Green, Leon Seals, Torrence Mayfield, Eric Walls and Tyree Jones.  Questions ranged from the current status of the consent decree to whether losing candidates will be able to work with the winner once the race is over.  The event was recorded and streamed live via facebook.

At the end of the forum, ASJN provided each candidate with a small jar of treats just for participating and it read, “A little something to brighten your day!”  ASJN does not endorse candidates, but wishes each candidate the best.  Following the forum, refreshments were served in the fellowship hall.

Thanks to Bishop Kenneth Thrasher and the Apostolic Worship Center, 1735 Shady Lane Drive, Jackson, MS 39204 for partnering with ASJN to host this event.
