Appreciation Day
City of Jackson Solid Waste Division
For the past 7 months, The Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods
(ASJN), have picked up bottles, cans, mattresses, furniture, tires, clothes, you
name it, along streets in south Jackson. ASJN members may be cleaning up in
the Terry Road area one weekend and on Raymond Road or McDowell Road the
next. Irregardless where ASJN is implementing “Operation Cleanup South
Jackson”, you can bet the Solid Waste Division is there to lend a hand. Lakesha
Weathers and her staff are committed to helping ASJN properly dispose of trash
collected during our monthly cleanups. Prior to scheduling the monthly cleanup,
Willa Watson contacts the Solid Waste Division to coordinate the pickup date,
time and location. Ms. Weathers and/or staff mark the calendar in preparation of
the cleanup. Once the cleanup is completed, Ms. Weathers and staff arrive in a
timely manner to collect and dispose of the trash.
To show appreciation to the City of Jackson Solid Waste Division, Ms
Watson delivered “Happies” to Lakesha Weathers and staff on Wednesday,
August 4, 2021. Although we know Ms. Weathers and her staff get paid to make
sure trash is collected, it’s the extra effort they put into their jobs, complete with
excellent customer service and a pleasant attitude, that ASJN appreciates even
more.
ASJN salutes the City of Jackson Solid Waste Division staff: Lakesha
Weathers, Manager; Brittany Marshall, Office Coordinator; Alice Montgomery,
Supervisor; Deatra Hughes, Secretary; Christopher Latham, Inspector; Ellis
Knight, Inspector, Richard Butler, Equipment Operator; Chad Hilton, Equipment
Operator. Thank you for all you do!
ASJN encourages other nonprofits, businesses, churches, organizations and individuals to mobilize a team to help Keep All of Jackson Beautiful!
