The weekend of Juneteenth got off to a great start. As
part of Juneteenth and in honor of fathers in South
Jackson, the Association of South Jackson
Neighborhoods (ASJN) held its monthly outdoor
drive-thru movie night at the Peggy Hobson Calhoun
Community Center in the Will-O-Wood subdivision. To
kickstart Father’s Day activities, ASJN handed out tickets to every father who
attended the movie, “The Hate You Give”. A drawing was held and 10 lucky
fathers received a bucket filled with all sorts of goodies just for dad. Half of the
buckets contained personal items such as shaving cream, razors, cologne, soap
and snacks, while others contained items to clean their personal vehicles. ASJN
wants all fathers to know you are highly appreciated and we cannot make it
without you. Most of all, we want you to know that we love you to the moon and
back!
ASJN salutes Khali Taylor, Caleb Williams, Christopher Jacobs, Jr. and Deshun
Dixon for being carhops for the evening. They did a wonderful job serving
refreshments to our movie guests and represented the football teams of Forest
Hill and Wingfield High Schools quite well.
